Die Implementierung der Balint-Gruppenarbeit als Baustein der ärztlichen Weiterbildung erfolgte ab 1987 mit dem Ziel, die Bedeutung der ärztlichen Beziehung in der Behandlung von Patienten1 in einem ganzheitlichen Medizinverständnis sichtbar zu machen und die Entwicklung einer professionellen Beziehungskompetenz zu unterstützen. Für die Ausbildung zum Balint-Gruppenleiter gibt es bislang nur Standards und Empfehlungen, die durch die nationalen und internationalen Balint-Fachgesellschaften entwickelt wurden. Der Beitrag gibt eine Übersicht über die spezifischen Herausforderungen eines Balint-typischen Gruppenprozesses und die Anforderungen an eine kompetente Gruppenleitung. Es wird unterschieden zwischen der Entwicklung ärztlicher und fachgebietsspezifischer Fähigkeiten und der Entwicklung von Kompetenzen, eine Methode in der ärztlichen Weiterbildung vertreten zu können.

Balint group work was implemented as a component of continuing medical education in 1987 with the aim of highlighting the importance of the doctor-patient relationship in a holistic understanding of medicine and supporting the development of professional relationship skills. To date, training to become a Balint group leader has been based solely on standards and recommendations issued by the national and international professional associations that represent the method. This article provides an overview of the specific challenges of a typical Balint group process and the requirements for competent group leadership. A distinction is made between the development of medical and specialty-specific skills and the development of the competence to represent a method in continuing medical education.
