Abstract:
The interview with Susanne Shaked sheds light on the work and career of psychoanalyst and group analyst Josef Shaked (1929–2021) as a conductor of large analytical groups and the institutionalization of group analysis in Austria and Germany in the International Association for Group Analysis IAG. Susanne Shaked recounts her involvement in large groups in an organisational and participatory role, formative encounters and important companions of her spouse. This provides insights into the history of group psychoanalysis, but also the socio-political significance of large groups and their potential for conflict reconciliation. Josef Shaked is portrayed as a psychoanalytically based, humorous and sometimes provocative group conductor whose influence has remained alive to this day.
